Friday night lights at the LSV brought with it a hint of drama when the Red Devils, who were massive underdogs going into this fixture, took the lead on 18 minutes.

It was nothing less than the Reds deserved after a patient and attritional start to the game, with loan signing Rowan Milnes causing issues with the boot.

Hooker, Joe Mellor scurried under bodies from dummy-half to send the already noisy Salford faithful into raptures, with the conversion nailing a six-point lead.

Unfortunately, as a youthful Salford side tired, the experience of Leigh’s backline took over and a brace from serial try-scorer, Josh Charnley, was two of five second-half scores for the Leopards.
